چکیده

We investigate the modification of discrete scale invariance by long-range interactions. This problem is relevant for effective field theory descriptions of nuclear cluster states and manifestations of the Efimov effect in nuclei. As a model system, we choose a one dimensional inverse square potential supplemented with a long-range Coulomb interaction. We study the renormalization and bound-state spectrum of the system as a function of the Coulomb interaction strength. Our results indicate, that the counterterm required to renormalize the inverse square potential alone is sufficient to renormalize the full problem. However, the breaking of the discrete scale invariance through the Coulomb interaction leads to a modified bound state spectrum. The shallow bound states are strongly influenced by the Coulomb interaction while the deep bound states are dominated by the inverse square potential. A Model Study of Discrete Scale Invariance and Long-Range Interactions

We investigate the modification of discrete scale invariance in the bound state spectrum by longrange interactions. Polarity formation in crystals with long range molecular interactions: A Monte Carlo study.

Stochastic formation of a bi-polar state in three dimensional arrays of polar molecules with full Coulomb interactions is reproduced by Monte Carlo simulation. The size of the system is comparable to that of a real crystal seed. The spatial decay of the average order parameter is significantly slowed down by the long range interactions and the exact representation of correlation effects in term...

Investigation of Effect of Number of Lifters on Performance of Pilot-Scale SAG Mills Using Discrete Element Method

The number of lifters of mill shell liners, mill rotation speed, and filling percentage of grinding media are three of the most important parameters influencing the charge behavior and the trajectory of ball motion inside the SAG mills, and consequently, their performance. In this paper, the milling operation of pilot-scale SAG mills using the discrete element method (DEM) is investigated. Firs...

Stochastic discrete scale invariance: Renormalization group operators and Iterated Function Systems

We revisit here the notion of discrete scale invariance. Initially defined for signal indexed by the positive reals, we present a generalized version of discrete scale invariant signals relying on a renormalization group approach. In this view, the signals are seen as fixed point of a renormalization operator acting on a space of signal. We recall how to show that these fixed point present disc...

Continuous limit of discrete systems with long-range interaction

Discrete systems with long-range interactions are considered. Continuous medium models as continuous limit of discrete chain system are defined. Longrange interactions of chain elements that give the fractional equations for the medium model are discussed. The chain equations of motion with long-range interaction are mapped into the continuum equation with the Riesz fractional derivative. We fo...
